Jaz is known for her signature contemporary-street fusion style, and her lyrically-driven choreography. Jaz was most recently featured as a dancer in Tia Gostelow's latest single 'Spring to Life', and choreographed 'To Be Valid' dance work in IndepenDANCE 2022.
Her unique perspective on dance has been shaped by experiencing various niches within the larger dance industry such as explorative contemporary, commercial, and street battles/jams.
Jaz's dream is to fuse the best concepts from all genres and niches to create a future for the dance industry that is inclusive, creative, and not inherently objectifying.
Style
Jaz is launching monthly dance classes, to build momentum, community, and funds for a future dance projects. Jaz loves giving back to students with teaching skills of self-expression, movement, and cultivating up-lifting communities. In addition to wanting to get more studio time herself, Jaz created these classes to pave the way for producing live performances and concept videos, one day- as a professional undertaking.
Jaz's ultimate goal is to use social media and other similar valued commodities, to popularise dance and dancers the same way many other artistic disciplines are recognised.
Ask yourself if you know a single famous dancer? Okay, how about in Australia? How about in Brisbane?... then ask, do you know a famous singer? actor? artist? Internationally? In Australia? In Brisbane?
Moving Forward
Why not dancers?
Beyond recognition, it has a knock-on effect to a dancers' pay, and thus their livelihood. If dancers are not recognised for their value and contribution, it forces them to settle for less.
Dancers are not getting paid, because employers (often outside the dance industry) do not understand their value, and because consumers don't show they value them. If dancers as artists or entertainers give you value- joy, belonging, permission to express yourself... support us!
